Social Responsibility
The rolling, drying and packing is done by women working near where they live, paid per batch at a rate they agreed to, with work available through the year rather than only in festival season. Several of them started with us knowing none of this craft.
Green Energy
Drying is done in the sun rather than in ovens, which is slower and depends entirely on the weather. Our workshop runs on a rooftop solar array that covers most of what the packing floor uses through the day.
Environmental Care
Around two tonnes of temple flowers a month are collected instead of being dumped in water or landfill. Packaging is paper and board, printed with soy ink, with no plastic window and no laminate. The boxes compost.
Vedapatashala
A share of every order supports a local vedapatashala, where students learn recitation and traditional grammar. Fees, books and two meals a day are covered so a family's income never decides whether a child can continue.
The Heritage Impact
Javadhu, panchagavya, pancha deepam oil — recipes that survive only while somebody still makes them. We make them, document them, and buy from the artisans who have kept them alive rather than reverse-engineering them cheaply.
The Health Impact
Charcoal-based incense pushes fine particulate into a closed room. Removing charcoal and synthetic fragrance oil cuts that sharply. Our incense still produces smoke — all incense does — so burn it in a ventilated room, and keep it away from anyone with a respiratory condition.
